1 Corinthians 15:3-4 · ESVThose lines are older than the letter they sit in. Paul says he is handing on something he received, and most historians, believing or not, date that summary to within a few years of the execution. Not centuries. Years.
Here is the strange part. The movement starts with a group of defeated, terrified people insisting they had eaten with a man they watched die. It made them poor. It got several of them killed. And the first witnesses they named were women, whose testimony their own culture discounted, which is a bizarre detail to invent if you are building a legend.
None of that is proof. People die sincerely for things that are not true. Grief can produce visions. Those are fair counterarguments and you should read them.
But something happened that needs explaining. Do not let anyone hand you the answer, including me.
