Day 26 of 60 · The Word

Chew On It All Day

Open your Bible and read Psalm 1

“but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.”

Psalm 1:2 · ESV

Meditating on Scripture is not emptying your mind. It is the opposite. It is filling it with one thing and refusing to let go.

Take a single verse into your day. Say it in the shower. Say it at a red light. Turn it over while you wash dishes. Put the emphasis on a different word each time and watch what opens up. I am the righteousness of God. I AM the righteousness of God.

The psalm says a person who does this is like a tree planted by streams of water. Trees do not grow in a hurry. They grow because their roots stay in the same soil, season after season, and eventually a drought cannot kill them.

You cannot read a verse once and expect it to reshape you. Chew on it. Let it get down into you.

Do this today

Pick one verse this morning and repeat it to yourself at least five times before bed.

Say this out loud

“I delight in the Word of God. It is going deep into me and I am rooted like a tree by water.”
