Open your Bible and read Psalm 100
“Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!”
Psalm 100:4 · ESVThere is an order in that verse and it is worth noticing. Thanksgiving at the gate. Praise in the courts. Gratitude is the doorway you walk through to get where you actually want to be, which is close to Him.
You are not thanking Him to earn access. The access was bought with blood and you already have it. Thanksgiving is simply what a person does who remembers what they were handed. A month ago you were dead in your sins. Today you are seated in Christ, forgiven, filled with the Holy Spirit, and He calls you His own.
Complaining and gratitude cannot occupy the same mouth at the same time. Whichever one you feed will run the day.
Feed the right one. Get specific. Vague thanks changes nothing, but naming ten real things out loud will lift your head before you finish the list!
Do this today
Write down ten specific things you are thankful for, then read the whole list out loud to Him.

“I enter His gates with thanksgiving. I remember what He did for me and I will not stay silent about it.”
