Day 36 of 60 · Freedom

Shame Has No Claim On You

Open your Bible and read Romans 8:1-11

“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

Romans 8:1 · ESV

Learn to tell these two voices apart, because one of them is Him and one of them is not.

Conviction is specific. It names a thing. It points you toward Him and it always comes with a way home. You feel drawn, not crushed. Shame is different. Shame is vague and it goes after you instead of the sin. You are disgusting. You will never change. God is finished with you. Shame drives you away from His presence, which is the one place that would actually heal you.

At the cross Jesus wrote a blank check for every sin you have committed and every one you have not gotten to yet. There is NO condemnation left for you. None. The account is settled in blood.

So when the accusing voice starts up today, do not argue with it and do not agree with it. Answer it out loud with Romans 8:1 and go straight back to Him.

Do this today

When the accusing thought comes today, say Romans 8:1 out loud in response to it.

Say this out loud

“There is NO condemnation for me. I am in Christ Jesus and the case against me is closed.”
