Day 43 of 60 · The resurrection

If It Did Not Happen

Open your Bible and read 1 Corinthians 15:12-19

“And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.”

1 Corinthians 15:17 · ESV

Give Christianity credit for this much. It does not hedge. Paul could have said that even if the resurrection is only a beautiful metaphor, the teaching still improves your life. Plenty of religions take that exit. He refused it. He wrote that if Christ was not raised, the whole thing is empty, the preachers are liars, and Christians are the most pitiable people alive.

That is a falsifiable claim, staked on a public event, deliberately. It means nobody is asking you to believe something that cannot be examined.

So sit with the negative today, seriously. If the tomb was not empty, then the cross was just another Roman execution, the blank check is worthless paper, and thirty days of your attention went to a dead man.

Feel the weight of that. Faith that has never looked straight at its own downside is not faith, it is avoidance.

Do this today

Write one sentence describing what your life looks like if none of this is true.

An honest thing to say to God

“God, I am willing to consider that this is false. If it is, I want to know that too.”
