Open your Bible and read Psalm 27
“One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple.”
Psalm 27:4 · ESVDavid had wars to fight, a kingdom to run and enemies with names. One thing, he says. One. To dwell with Him and gaze on His beauty all the days of my life.
That is not a man asking for something. That is a man who wants Someone. There is a large difference and your prayer life will tell you which one you are.
You are a priest. Come in with an offering. Praise, worship, love, adoration, given to Him for no other reason than He is worth it. Not requests. He has plenty of servants bringing Him lists. What He desires from you is your affection.
Go after His presence for the rest of your life. Not because you are told to, but because you have tasted it and you want more. He is what you were made for!
Do this today
Take ten minutes today with no requests at all, and only tell Him what you love about Him.
Say this out loud
“One thing I ask: to dwell with Him and gaze on His beauty all the days of my life.”
