Open your Bible and read John 20:24-29
“Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe.”
John 20:27 · ESVThomas said he would not believe unless he could put his hands in the wounds. He said it to a room full of people who already believed. He said it out loud.
A week later Jesus shows up and, before Thomas can repeat himself, offers exactly what he asked for. No lecture. No shaming him in front of everyone. Here are my hands.
Two things are true at once and both matter. Doubt was not treated as a moral failure. And not everyone gets the sign they ask for, which is its own quiet grief. If you have asked and heard nothing, you are not defective and you did not do it wrong.
The opposite of faith in these accounts is not doubt. It is dishonesty. Keep saying the true thing about where you are and you are doing this right.
